Background:
The only child of Tess and Jonathan Whelan, Cameron was born and raised in the
Parkchester area of the Bronx, New York. Her father, a police officer, was
killed in the line of duty when she was just 14 months old, so the only parent
she has ever really known is her mother.
As Cameron grew up she was constantly torn between her own dream to follow her
father’s footsteps and become a cop, and her mother’s desire for her to become a
doctor. Being young and not yet having the confidence to stand up for herself,
she eventually yielded to her mother’s wishes. She did well in school, but not
well enough to win the kinds of scholarships she needed to pay her way through
undergrad school, so she enlisted for a four-year stint with the US Army to take
advantage of the training and the GI Bill.
While in the military, Cameron’s interests in law enforcement grew even
stronger, much to her mother’s dismay. Upon her return to civilian life, she
spent nearly a year earning her Paramedic’s license, seeing it as an extension
of the EMT-equivalent training she’d received in the Army. After spending only a
few months as a paramedic, she realized that she couldn’t deny her own desires
anymore.
Twenty weeks of intense training saw her complete her courses at the NYC Police
Academy, after which she spent three years as a patrol officer before she
continued to move on to bigger and better things.
Blending her training as a medic and a cop, Cameron became one of the first
women accepted into the New York City SWAT unit as a Tactical Emergency Medic.
She very much enjoyed and excelled at her work, despite the intense pace and
stress of the job. Her efforts eventually got the attention of recruiters for
the Stargate Program and, always on the lookout for another challenge, she
couldn’t resist their offer when they came calling.

Psychological Profile:
Cameron is passionate, incisive and impulsive by nature but, thanks to her
intellect and self-discipline, she avoids the urge to act before thinking and
has displayed sound judgment even under intense pressure. Although she tends to
stick tightly to her morals, she is sentimental and can sometimes be influenced
by people and situations that appeal to her sensitivities. Her emotions are
undoubtedly strong, but she has an objectivity that contributes to her sense of
justice.
She is very intuitive and tends to have swift, penetrating insights. It’s
certainly a quality that may put some people ill at ease. She has a particular
knack for discerning insincerity in other people, and is reluctant to trust
anyone who doesn’t seem genuine to her. While Cameron reads other people’s
feelings very well, she keeps her own well hidden. Her emotions are subdued and
run very deep, but she is open and honest with those she trusts.
Cameron is excited by challenges and adapts easily to new experiences. Confident
without being cocky, she is very dedicated to her work and is sure of her
