Background:
David was born in Broken Hill, Australia, the only son of Fred and Marge.
Tragically, his parents were killed shortly after his birth, and he moved to
live with his grandmother, Mavis. He was always a very bright child, identified
as highly intelligent at a very young age. He completed his primary school
studies by the age of 8 and high school by 15. His grandmother was very proud,
and encouraged him when he started considering combining his passion for
aircraft and his fascination with science. He was accepted to Monash University,
and entered into an accelerated science degree, being the youngest ever graduate
at the age of 16 1/2. He has continued to excel, completing his doctorate at 18.
He has been watched by senior military officials, encouraged to complete his
Doctorate at the Australian Defense Force Academy. When opportunity arose, the
US military encouraged David to shift to the US, to capitalize on his expertise.
Brigadier General Jonathan Eli as has watched his progress closely, particularly
his extensive research and expertise in astrophysics and was able to see the
young officer encouraged to put his talents to use in the Stargate program.
Family:
Father - Fred Cosgrove (deceased)
Mother - Marge Cosgrove (deceased)
Only surviving relative - Mavis (grandmother)
David is a strong survivor, having lost his
parents at a young age. However, in spite of this tragic loss, he has a strong
sense of family and the importance of belonging. He loves his grandmother,
contacting her often, even though he rarely gets to spend time with her, being
in Australia. He tends to see his friends amongst the military as his family,
and thus, he is loyal to those he serves with. His personality is such that he
gets along with most and develops close and long lasting bonds with his fellow
officers and personnel.
Psychological Profile:
One could easily expect that David, having been identified early for his
intellect and been fast tracked through the education system, may be somewhat
pompous or elitist. Strangely, he is the exact opposite. He has developed good
social skills and is a very down to earth, kind and sociable individual. His
good looks and great sense of humour means he is well liked and his friendly
demeanor ensures that he gets along with most people. He does have his serious
side, but has achieved a very healthy balance between serious and relaxed,
making a good balanced individual. |
