Background:
Born in Albany, Western Australia, Callum O’Leary is the youngest of three, his two older sisters being long since married with families of their own. His parents had hoped Callum would follow in his father’s footsteps and enter law enforcement but his aptitude for history made that a non-starter. To fund his higher education Callum joined the RAAF as a cadet, furthering his knowledge in the subjects of classical and ancient history while at the Air Force Academy.

His bloodline is linked back to southern Ireland - as his name would indicate - but the move to Australia occurred several generations back and, as such, Callum is easily accepted as a native although his ties to his original homeland remain strong.

He spent the following years furthering his training in both history as well as ancient languages, continuing with the RAAF past his initially intended time span as he found the way of life to his liking. Add to that the fact that he saw the Air Force as a way to see exotic locations and his immediate future was set - until, in 2001, a passing diplomat (associated with the SGC) spotted him. His abilities were noted and he was earmarked for future enlistment into the program and that happened early in 2003.

O'Leary spent the next year at the SGC in Colorado Springs before moving to the Stargate Beta site in Alaska.

Psychological Profile:
An easygoing man but one with a rigid sense of what is morally right. O’Leary has shown his stubborn nature on several occasions in the past but this shouldn’t be taken as detrimental to his character. A strong loyalty also runs through him and this, together with a tenacious side, sees him fulfil the majority of tasks set before him.

It would seem that Callum has had a reasonably normal childhood and there is nothing to suggest any cause for concern in that regard but his inexperience in the field is something that may need monitoring. That said he is suitable for command and, in time and with some guidance, I feel sure that will also follow.
