Background:
Devon was born outside of Charleston, South Carolina. She is the youngest of
three children, and the only daughter of Michael and Diane Hennessey. Her mother
is a high school mathematics teacher, and her father and brothers run the
family's large structure demolition business. Being the only girl, she was
practically born into having to prove herself. Whenever her older brothers saw
fit to show themselves to be bigger and stronger, she simply showed herself to
be smarter. Devon's mother is proud of her daughter's intelligence, her brothers
resent it, and her father barely seemed to notice it at all.
After graduating from college both of Devon's brothers were offered a part of
the family business, but her father made it clear to her early on that he did
not approve of his daughter working in such a potentially dangerous trade. She
had a very deep and genuine interest in the engineering involved in demolitions
and spent many years trying to sway Michael's decision. Not being one to give in
easily, Devon pursued her degrees, still hoping to prove to her father that she
was smart and capable enough to work with him just as her brothers were. Despite
graduating with honors from one of the top engineering schools in the country,
Devon's father stayed true to his word and forbid her from working for him. In a
move that both allowed her to work in a field she loved, and to indignantly defy
her father, Devon enlisted in the Army and was eventually assigned to work with
the Army Corps of Engineers.
Family:
Parents:
Michael Hennessey- father, deceased
Diane Hennessey- mother
Brothers:
Michael Hennessey Jr.
Sean Hennessey
Psychological Profile:
Devon is knowledgeable, controlled and focused, but is still made insecure by
her sensitivity to failure. Her initial reaction to any situation is to evaluate
and come up with an operative conclusion before rushing in. But due to her
insecurities with being wrong, she is likely to withhold her solution until she
is certain she is right, thus slowing down the problem-solving process.
Her outward calm comes from the fact that she holds in her fears and worries,
and although she is reluctant to show her feelings, Devon is greatly affected by
them. Others often find this frustrating, as her cool exterior makes her
sometimes appear to be indifferent or uncaring. This in turn frustrates Devon,
who is very intuitive and compassionate beneath the surface. Although she
sometimes appears to be introverted and uninvolved, she observes everything
around her with depth and clarity. Her intuitive mind tunes into situations and
people with great accuracy.
Those who have the patience to see through Devon's misleading cool façade find
her to be very friendly, caring and loyal. Even those who don't know her true
self can't help but to respect the talents of this very intelligent and
professional woman. |
