Stargate Beta itself is an underground command center based in Alaska. Their stargate is the third to be placed on Earth, given to them by the Asgard in thanks for our aid in their fight against the Replicators. (Wasn't that nice of them?) Stargate Beta was set up as the sister project of Stargate Command -- which is based at Cheyenne Mountain -- as a complimentary yet almost wholly separate project. (Translation: We're run by different people although we share information every once in a while.) Although difficult to operate two stargates on the same planet with the same home symbol and address, the Asgard provided necessary technology to stop any troubles that might occur.
There are two areas that make up the Stargate Beta facility: Area 111 and Avalon Colony. Area 111 is the main base in Alaska, home to Squad's Alpha through Omega. Avalon Colony is a research facility located on P4J-8282 and was opened in the Summer of 2004. There are separate squads that live at and operate out of the colony.
Both Area 111 and Avalon Colony under the command of Brigadier General Jonathan Elias, US Air Force, SGB's Commanding Officer, and Captain Emmanuel LaforÍt, US Navy, SGB's Second-in-Command. LaforÍt does all the day-to-day running, while General Elias keeps us in the governmental good books and in funding. As the Commanding Officers of Stargate Beta, Elias and LaforÍt keep in constant communication with the Commanding Officers of the various Squads and Base Personnel. Elias and LaforÍt also share their responsibility with Commander Elise Richardson, US Navy, the base JAG Officer. And our Chief Medical Officer, Colonel Donald Eakins, US Army, helps out whenever possible, as well.

Disclaimer: This site is completely unofficial and is run for and by fans of Stargate: SG-1. I'm not pretending to have any ownership of anything to do with the show - it's owned by MGM, Gekko and Double Secret or something :) - and I'm getting nothing out of this apart from the satisfaction of having built a fairly nice-looking site and the fun of the game. Please, please don't sue us. I'm a poor College Student and you'll be depriving me of my education. You don't want to do that, do you?
